Canberra, ACT – 31March 2026 – Vantage Strata and St John Ambulance ACT have announced a formal partnership to install and maintain Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in strata-titled residential buildings across the ACT, marking the first collaboration of its kind between a strata management company and St John in the region.
The partnership will support Owners Corporations to install AEDs in accessible common areas of apartment and townhouse communities, where thousands of Canberrans live. With survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest declining rapidly with every passing minute, having a rescue-ready AED nearby can mean the difference between life and death.
Vantage Strata CEO Rupert Cullen said the initiative is a natural extension of the company’s purpose.
“We take our responsibility to the communities we manage seriously, which is why partnering with St John Ambulance ACT feels like such a natural fit. We manage hundreds of buildings of all sizes across the city, and this initiative means that regardless of where you live, your building can have a life-saving device in place and ready when it matters most.”
The collaboration allows Executive Committees to install AEDs as recognised building assets, with options for ongoing monitoring and maintenance by St John Ambulance ACT, providing assurance that devices are rescue‑ready every day.
St John Ambulance ACT Chief Executive Martin Fisk welcomed the collaboration, saying strata managers are ideally placed to drive AED adoption in residential settings.
“Vantage Strata’s proactive approach is exactly the kind of community leadership we need to see more of. Strata buildings are home to a significant and growing share of Canberra’s population, and ensuring those communities have access to life-saving equipment is something St John is deeply committed to. We’re proud to have a trusted partner in Vantage Strata to help make that happen.”
The initiative is already making an impact in Canberra’s strata communities. Gary Griffin, Chairperson of Ruby Apartments in Gungahlin, said the installation had been warmly welcomed by residents.
“This initiative supports not only the owners and tenants of Ruby Apartments, but also the broader Gungahlin community. Access to this life-saving equipment enhances safety and preparedness for medical emergencies, and we are grateful to both St John and Vantage Strata for making it happen.”
